A series of large scale immersive paintings on paper. Each painting begins by chance with a mark, a brush stroke or a dispersion of ink. As the negative spaces are given shape the push and pull between positive and negative begins… a metaphor for the way the greatest forces of nature do the same. Land is formed, water washes it away and it is formed anew. The paintings offer many small landscapes giving way to a vast one that is the entirety of the piece. There is pattern, there is expression in the calligraphic brush strokes and cross contours that define form and there is an element of color immersion the scale brings.
